Old Florida Coffee Co

A 19th-century building. A 21st-century roastery.

Old Florida Coffee Co. lives inside Fort Pierce’s oldest building—the PP Cobb Building. We roast coffee on-site daily and serve it with the Southern hospitality this place was built on.

The building that made a town

  • 1882: The Hogg family erects a trading post on Avenue A at the Indian River.
  • 1887: New Haven investors open a canning operation locals nicknamed “Cantown.”
  • 1897: Manager Peter P. Cobb buys the property and turns it into an iconic general store—a true community hub.
  • 1930s–1980s: Later becomes Pitts Furniture & Gas, then is restored by David Cleveland.
  • Today: Owned by the Adams family, still serving locals—now as home to Old Florida Coffee Co.

A family coffee company

In 2021 the Pennell family lovingly refurbished the space and fired up a micro-roastery. We roast in small batches every day and bag premium coffee—whole bean or ground to order. You’ll also find nostalgia candy and glass-bottle sodas that nod to the store’s past.

A gathering place, then and now

Step inside to live-edge black walnut tables, a cherry wood bar, and high-back leather chairs framed by a wall of antique front windows. Sit a spell on the front porch, greet neighbors, and enjoy the easy sea breeze—the same slower pace Fort Pierce has loved for 150+ years.

What we stand for

  • Tradition: Southern Comfort, Charm, and Hospitality.
  • Craft: Fresh-roasted coffee, done right and served simply.
  • Community: A welcoming place to meet, talk, and belong.
  • Heritage: Honoring the PP Cobb Building’s role as a trading post and general store.

Gilbert's Coffee Bar - Sunset Bay

Gilbert’s Coffee Bar brings comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging to our community, just like Merry Maids brings calm back into your home.

At Gilbert’s Coffee Bar, the legacy of Gilbert’s Bar House of Refuge lives on.
Once a lifesaving station that offered weary sailors refuge, warmth, and community—
Gilbert’s now serves as a modern-day gathering place, creating waterfront spaces where:

☕ Specialty coffee meets community spirit
🌊 Maritime history meets modern hospitality
🤝 Local organizations and neighbors come together
🏡 People gather, work, relax, and belong

With two beautiful waterfront locations in Martin County, Gilbert’s is more than a coffee spot—
It’s a place that nourishes, connects, and uplifts our community.

And that’s why our partnership means so much.
Together, Merry Maids + Gilbert’s are committed to supporting the people who make our community special.

Community Veterinary Clinic

Community Veterinary Clinic is dedicated to serving the community by offering accessible, preventative healthcare for animals and their owners.

We firmly believe that every household with a pet should have access to reasonably priced, high-quality healthcare and guidance. Our dedication to promoting and supporting animal welfare goes beyond the confines of Indian River County.

We aspire to establish a global community through our practice by advocating for and advancing conservation initiatives in the United States and abroad. A portion of each veterinary bill will be donated to one of three conservation projects in Florida, Grenada, W.I., and Africa.

We prioritize the well-being and healthcare of animals in our local community, and we strongly believe in giving back through conservation efforts, education, and monetary contributions. Get in touch with us to discover how we can assist you.
